FAQs

What is graphic design?
It is truly unfortunate that the graphic design industry doesn't get the same recognition or respect as most professions.

Graphic design touches practically everything in our daily lives. Products of design are everywhere. Just take a look at your wallet -- the wallet's branding, your drivers license, credit cards, library card, cash, and coins were all, most likely, designed by a graphic designer. The books, magazines, and newspapers we read also involved the work of a graphic designer, whether it is cover design, illustration, advertisement design, typography, or even the layout of the whole product. Turn on your television, and you'll see advertisements which also involved the work of graphic designers, whether it is the featured product or behind the scenes, the storyboard of the ad itself. Look out your window and onto the street. The street signs, billboards, and store signage that you see were also designed by a graphic designer. Anything that has a respectable looking logo was, most likely, designed by a graphic designer. The list is endless.

What is your inspiration?
I draw my inspiration from the world around me, which is one of the reasons why I love to travel so much. I am always aware of my surroundings, taking note of what are displayed in store windows, product design, packaging, and even what people are wearing. I am continually on the lookout for new and interesting things of superior design. I can be so impressed with a product's design and workmanship that I would purchase the item for that reason alone.

Describe a typical work day.
I start off my mornings checking email, reading the news from cnn.com and local news websites, eat some breakfast, and then get to work.
